Comment: ITT Tech leveraged its false job placement rates and inflated salaries to prey on young children and military veterans. The DOE has let them get away with these tactics for years (along with all other for-profit colleges). The few that are very fortunate to attend good schools in the US are generally because they can afford it. There are many brilliant minds that cannot attend a quality education because either their pockets aren't deep enough or they aren't "standard" enough for standardized testing. The educational system needs to change NOW if we want ANY type of future for our children

Comment: ITT Tech promised me a solid education and lifetime job placement if I graduated. I was lied to about the full costs, and found out recently that my load interest actually doubled due to taking 2 programs at the same time. They never helped me find a job with their job placement services, nor would they let me audit new design classes to keep up with new programs in my field. Instead, I'm left with 70k in student loans that I can't even afford. I don't feel it's fair that ITT can just walk away from all this when they've ruined so many lives in the process. ITT needs to be held accountable for their fraudulent practices.

I started my journey to a bachelors degree in criminal justice. After 4 long years I graduated. I was very happy and looking forward to that dream job. After searching and searching my degree got me nowhere. I started getting depressed because the loans were stacking up and I had no job and was barely surviving.  Now I'm working a low pay job and barely surviving and able to provide for my family. Comment: From the moment I set foot on the ITT Campus I was lied to and constantly deceived. They used whatever means was available to excite you and con you into making an irrational decision. They get your blood pumping and your adrenaline going so that your not thinking clearly. Flying through documents so fast I had no idea what I was signing. I was conned into signing an enrollment agreement and before I knew what was happening I was already signed up for classes. When I tried to complain that I had only come to make an informed decision they told me it was too late. I reluctantly began school because I was being pressured by my family to go and I needed their help to survive. I know owe around $70,000 that I will never be able to repay since my interest is greater than my payment. When my baby girl wants to go to college when I'm 50 I will have to tell her "Sorry honey I can't afford to send you to college, dad still is paying on his loans." ITT destroyed my future and my children's future. My story continues for many more pages, but it comes down to the facts: We the students of ITT were deceived about the quality of the education we would receive, about job placement , about the wages and worth of our degree, about the cost of our programs and repayment, about loans and financial aid, and here's the big one, - about the consequences going to ITT would bring and the devastating impact it would have on so many lies. "ITT Education to destroy your future" For these reasons I STRIKE!

Comment: I went to ITT Tech from 2008-2011. Like everyone else, I went there to seek better opportunities for my future. I was promised job placement starting at 45k/year. I now currently work at a call center making only minimum wage. I am too embarrassed to even include ITT on my resume now. During my time there, I showed up every day, turned in all assignments, and made straight A's earning a 4.0 GPA. What really bothered me was students who barely showed up receiving the same passing grades. A few weeks before getting my Associate's degree I was pulled from class and told I needed to sign additional documents otherwise I wouldn't be able to graduate. That is when I really started to get worried but by then I was way too far in. The labs and software were either outdated or not even licensed. Some of the adjunct instructors looked like they were picked up off the streets and couldn't even teach the class. We had some instructors get fired or quit on the spot. The last straw for me was career services sending me a scam email from indeed.com. I left and never went back. Now I am over 50k in debt for loans I'll never be able to pay back. 10k in private student loans I never even agreed to. I am glad this School has been shut down it does offer me some sort of relief.

Comment: I went to ITT Tech to better myself and my family. As of now all I have is a piece of paper and huge debt. Teachers sometimes did not show up to class but we would get credit for being there. They let students do what they wanted. Examples: play on computers in class and just get an A for being there. I felt that I was taught nothing of value due to the poor teachings.  If you are paying that much for a degree you should get something out of it. THEY TAUGHT NOTHING. When asking for help the teachers did not know the answers. I had one teacher say he was there for a paycheck. He really didn’t know what he was teaching. When you asked for help you were told to Google it. The career center that was a joke. They would pass job posting along like for cell phone stores, restaurants, nothing in our field. I am not in a job that I went to school for and it is depressing. I have tried and tried and have not gotten what I was promised with the degree I received. Even on blizzard-condition days when every college campus around was closed they still had us come in until our first break so they could get their money for having the students there. Books and material were so outdated they did not even pertain to our course. Also the labs and the equipment never worked. Were told that the credits would transfer to different schools and that is not the case. Also a few weeks before graduating I was called to the finical aid office to sign more paperwork otherwise I could not graduate even though I signed papers 4 weeks prior to this. This is true case of fraud. I cannot give my family the life they deserve because of the debt.

They stole Pell grants and our time with family that we sacrificed.  They just completely stripped away our dignity. We can't even provide homes or vehicles for our families because of their lies snd fraudulent actions. If the shoe was on the other foot, how would you feel? Hopeless right? We are asking that you hear us and give us a clean slate. We may decide to try it again with a legit school, of course. It is hard enough in this world already. We don't need this monkey on our backs. This was an expensive degree and now it's worthless! It's not fair! It's just not fair to us! Please clear our loans! Thank you.

Comment: Currently in Forebearance I have been trying to make my payments but the payments are enormous. Also my credits aren't transferable to any sort of reputable institution so my 2 year degree is basically worthless if/when I wish to continue my education. The teachers were inexperienced I had a couple of classes where they didn't have teachers for when the class started, not until week 3-4. I still had to pay for the class because they had a body acting as a teacher until they found someone. I gutted it out though because I rationalized it was best to be in debt and finish the program than to be in debt and not have anything to show. I never realized it would end up costing almost as much as an ivy league education

Comment: ITT was a complete waste of my time and money. The educational curriculum was very poor. There were high instructor turn-over rates, poor equipment, refused suggestion to improve curriculum, and very high loan cost that jumped every year without any justification. Entrance exams were a joke, and loans were given out like candy to anyone who had a pulse. And then there was the extreme pressure to enlist students into Bachelor programs at insanely high costs. Luckily I refused as I learned just how much I got conned after my first year of attendance of this joke of a school. I have been paying on my Federal Loan for many years now and I have only reduced my loan principal amount by a few hundred dollars. I have paid close to my principal in interest by now. I am beyond frustrated and angry with the whole experience. I demand a full discharge from this blight.

Comment: As many other ITT students I wanted something more out of life than another dead end job with no benefits/insurance, saw the commercial and thought. "what have I got to lose?" Turns out a lot more than I bargained for... After being turned down by Cincinnati State & Raymond Walters without a co-signer, I decided to give ITT a try. To my surprise I was accepted without a co-signer for double/triple the amount of what I had been denied by two accredited local colleges. My experience at ITT Norwood, Ohio is much like many other strikers. We didn't receive textbooks until 3rd week of classes (which conveniently is when you get charged full price for the class if you decide to drop it!). A revolving door of teachers during the semester, teachers being let go if their pass rate was not high enough (everyone gets a trophy), faulty labs with out of date equipment or system errors, which resulted in board drafting when the drafting programs were down. I ended up graduating from ITT with a degree in CDD (computer drafting & design) with no Dean over our department due to his unwillingness to give undeserving students a passing grade to pad ITT's stats. Career services which took credit for placing me at a job because they had a flyer on the entrance/exit door. A degree that is not worth $45,000 from a FOR PROFIT COLLEGE and credits will not transfer to any credible institution. I, Jason Wyatt Howard am hereby refusing to pay my Federal loans and am henceforth joining the ITT Tech Collective Strike! You are not alone!!

I went to school at ITT Tech in 2006. I graduated in 2008. The school and my loan providers were demanding their money back right away. They told me the only way I didn't have to start paying on my loans is if I went back to school. Being unemployed at the time in the middle of a recession, I fell for it. Biggest mistake ever. Two different degrees and no one will hire me. $90,000.00 in debt. Making payments only on private loans because the federal loans are way too high. Interest on these loans is ridiculous. I hope that these federal loans are forgiven. A total waste of time.

Majority of my teachers failed to help me in anyway. I learned almost everything from YouTube. The career services sent me one email about fixing windshields in 2011. At one point I went back to ITT Tech and talked to a recruiter about furthering my education and I was told that almost all the credits that I had would not count towards a Bachelors degree and I would have to take and pay for the classes again. That's when my view on ITT Tech really began to change towards a company that's out for the money. The job skills and placement that were received while attending ITT tech were nonexistent. To say that I wasted my money is an understatement. If I had to do it over again I would have never attended ITT tech.

Comment: When I enrolled in school I was led falsely down a path thinking I was to have a better life. Attending ITT-Tech has been the biggest regret of my life. No one should feel like going to school was a bad decision. I was quoted around 35k for my loans. I graduated and was unable to pay for my loans. Sallie Mae loaned me 26 different loans for my 2 years of college credits. I don't understand why there were so many different loans but when I tried to have them consolidated they said no. I was overburdened with this debt because I was not helped in finding a job in my field and had to stick through minimum wage job after minimum wage job. So I decided at the time to not pay it. My loans sat at around 65k when I finally got a stable job and was capable of paying something. I worked out a deal with the collection agency that had my private loans and paid $345 a month for 3 years then i renegotiated and they took it to 245 a month for 2 more years. My private loans started at about 18k when i started paying. I paid all that monthly that was mentioned before and then when i got it paid to 12k they settled with me 3.6k. Now im fighting with new loan companies every year to remain on an income based repayment plan, one of which i have to keep up to date on for 20 years and if i miss 1 payment i could lose all my work. I feel since it has been very clear that ITT-Tech knowingly screwed its students, we should get a full refund on money we paid and the rest of our debt be forgiven. This mess has prevented me from making some of the most important purchases of my life. For the longest of time I had to live with my mother because paying my private loans and rent wasn't an option. I was never able to buy a decent car and still can not. I have driven clunkers all my life and have had to hope nothing goes wrong with them. When they would break I would have to call upon friends and family to help me get by.

When I finished school they wanted me to go work at call center for a bank, I would deal with phone calls helping someone with information about their banks not work on a "IT" related field. I now work at a cable company that does not need my degree. No other company will hire me because I graduated from ITT Tech. Now they want us to pay them back $300 a month and at the lowest $150. With the jobs that they want us to work, that is not affordable. $12/ hour won't allow us to pay $150 and live a normal life. I went on to study at a University for my BA in CJ but had to withdraw because all my loan money was gone. I have 1 year left of schooling and can't go because I don't have the income to allow me to pay out of pocket. ITT promised me they would help me secure a job working in my field of study and since obtaining this expensive piece of paper I have not heard nothing from them except an invite to come to talk to new students looking at entering ITT for their education. (I didnt attend it) my debt for student loans is now over 100K and climbing. I had my debt consolidated and went into an economic hardship deferment but the loan website isn't user friendly as far as filing for this status every year even though my income doesn't change. My phone rings off the hook all day long with computers randomly calling my house and they all trace back to the loan company.

Comment: ITT Tech lied to me from the very beginning. I was not told that my credit would not be accepted at major Institutions. I was promised that I would be making a certain amount after graduation. That has yet to happen. The proper tools were not provided at the school and I would constantly fill out the quarterly feedback forms to complain about the lack of resources yet nothing was done. The school also had certain teachers teaching classes that they weren't certified to teach. As of now most jobs are no longer accepting the ITT degree as an accredited degree. I refuse to pay a dime to that school.

It is about time someone stood up to that school. ITT Tech is misleading from the very beginning. I went there for Electrical Engineering Technology and ended up teaching myself most of the curriculum because the instructors couldn't. Attending that school was one of the biggest mistakes that I've made, but by the time I realized it, I was too invested to quit. Not to mention NONE of my credits will transfer to any schools near me, which is something else they don't tell you.

I had to start over at a community college because no accredited school will accept any ITT credits. I now owe about $35,000. Comment: Here I was starting my second quarter when I am informed that my financial aid is cancelled because I got a D in a class. This is 10 days into my second quarter, so I'm pretty much placed into student loan debt because they failed to inform me that my financial aid would be cancelled for my poor marks. They also failed to inform me that I would be accumulating thousands of dollars in debt for each quarter I attended without financial aid. The college near my school (which I attended after my stint at ITT) charges 1200 dollars per quarter for full time education. ITT charged me upwards of 3500 dollars per quarter for "full time" education. Almost three times for the cost just doesn't seem right. Especially when their credits aren't accepted anywhere else besides other ITT techs.

They gave me no assistance at all to find a job even midway through my degree program when I lost my job while attending school. They wanted me to remain in school while I was unemployed. Thankfully my spouse spent countless hours helping me to find a job and assisted me in finding a better job after graduation. Comment: Growing up, we're told that in order to have a better life we should continue our education after high school. We go to college to become better educated and have a chance of being successful. That's why I-and the many who attended-were defrauded and stuck with unyielding debt when we went back to school in pursuit of the "American Dream". We were sold false hope by a company that relentlessly raised the price of tuition every quarter and threatened to kick us out if we failed to pay them the pound of flesh for the degree that would be worth less than the paper it was printed on. Promises of finding great high-paying jobs at respected companies turned out to be minimum wage contract positions. We were fortunate if it was related to your field of study. ITT-Tech KNOWINGLY sold us into debt that most of us can never come back from. Most of us are worse off now than we were prior to attending this sham of a school. I have close to $100,000 (both federal and private loans) in debt that I know I may never be able to pay back; not because I'm unwilling to but because I will never get past the accrued interest. I have no desire or intention to lose sleep over this. I hearby formally state to those who read this that I WILL NOT be paying back those loans! The bill should be sent to those who stole from us our time, money, and our chance at a better future!

This good was sold with unfair practices. I spent my time, energy, money on this service. It's doing me no good, and it's name is tarnished. It's the federal governments responsibility to protect its citizens from these types of organizations. By shutting ITT Tech down you made the first step. Now it's time to follow through by discharging the debt owed to the alumni of this company who tried to call themselves educators.

Comment: I enrolled at ITT in the fall of 2010, for their degree in graphic design, called Visual Communications. Sometimes the projects we loaded up from the CDs that came with the textbooks were unusable. All of the staff seemed to genuinely love doing their jobs, and were all kind to us. Their HR reps were also nice, but were incompetent at actually helping us get jobs in our field as we only really received job listings that required way more job experience or education level than we could ever hope to receive. While I was there, between me and my parents, we racked up a $50,000 debt. After graduating from ITT in 2012, my parents paid off their half of the debt and I paid down my portion of $25k to just under $14,000. After hearing of the potential closure a couple months ago, I stopped making payments on my loans. Even after the government issued the ban of new students and the promise of loan forgiveness to current students, I have yet to pay toward my loan in hopes of the government actually helping those of us who are no longer are students, but still have to pay back the money we borrowed for an education that we barely received.

Comment: ITT Tech of Tampa convinced us that they were the best of the best when it came to technical schools and that they would provide the best education. We didn't initially qualify for their exorbitant fees and decided on a community college, but somehow they found a way to eek out a bit of cash for me to attend classes. Partway through my schooling, and while attempting to pay off one of the multiple loans ITT Tech gave me, I found that they had filtered the money evenly amongst each balance. This ensured that the original loan was still active and accruing interest. After making multiple lump sum payments over the years to pay off the initial loans (and having those sums divided amongst unrelated loans) I found myself up to my eyeballs in interest payments. Now, at 33, I have nothing to show for this but debt. No more payments!

Comment: I attended ITT Tech after getting out of the Navy and moving back home. I was told by the recruiters that I could transfer my credits to another school once I got my associates degree. It was preached that ITT was "nationally accredited" and that that held a higher precedence than regional accreditation. Once I completed my associates, I applied at the University of Southern Indiana only to be told that nothing I had from ITT would or could transfer. They managed to take my entire GI Bill, and when I confronted them after attempting to start at another school, I was told that they would never say that and that I was urged to finish my bachelors from them. Something needs to be done. For profit schools are not only predatory, they are allowed to continue because of the screwed up federal education system.

Comment: Like countless others, I was swindled by ITT Technical Institute. In 2010, I was given the impression that the education I’d receive at ITT would be more than adequate to begin a successful career in my field of study. I was not informed that my credits, should I transfer out, would not be accepted elsewhere. Prior to my enrollment, a telemarketer from ITT Tech contacted me numerous times to entice me into meeting with a recruiter. I was sold on the idea of an accredited college which would set up my FASFA and class schedule for me, plus help me find a job in my field, all while promising an earlier graduation than that of my local community college. It was obviously too good to be true, but by the time my rose colored glasses were whacked off it was too late for me to start all over at a new school. I was already indebted to this criminal organization and transferring my credits proved impossible. I vow not to pay my loans because I refuse to be obligated to pay for services not rendered; I refuse to support the unlawful and corrupt practices of ITT Tech.

Comment: I "graduated" in 2002 from the Portland ITT. I used the GI Bill, but with the loans and GI Bill I still didn't have enough for them, so I had to pay them every few weeks. I can't remember: I think it was a few hundred dollars for part of the 1st year. I was always broke, I was constantly busy with homework or work, I could hardly keep up with everything. For two years. I spent weeks in 1999 looking into ITT, talking to people, finding opinions etc. Sure I heard a few bad things, but most of those seemed to amount to someone was angry because of something specific or a grudge with someone. Anyway it was valid for the GI bill so ITT must be legitimate, right?? I don't know, in hindsight it's really super obvious, I needed to get the hell out of that program- if they were *THAT* desperate to fill all of those seats that they'd enroll a classmate who didn't speak English, something is wrong. Well, ok, I guess noone else quit the program either. Yet. I had asked them about it- as did several others, in hindsight, they were very smooth how they handled it, though I can't remember specific conversations, it was 16 years ago. Before enrolling, It took a lot of time to be convinced that this course wasn't just about getting a good job, but also it was about understanding the subject matter. I let the recruiter know that I wanted to understand the subject well, and she in turn spent a lot of time showing me all of the equipment that would be used, and let me know how qualified all of the instructors were, and that there would be plenty of opportunity to ask all of the questions I want in an effort to understand. Which was true in a way, but not really. I remember going through most of the hands on things (building networks, setting up hardware/software etc) so fast there was simply no time to understand everything. I never had a job that I wasn't already finding- answering phones as a computer tech rep, I was already doing that, I didn't need help with that. I had never gotten work through them other than simple entry level things. I'm told that the more jobs ITT is able to place former students in, the more funding comes their way. I have up two years of my life to get through two years of ITT, I paid for it dearly, I worked myself to death nearly every day, and I was without a car for a few months, it really changes things when you suddenly have to add several hours for taking busses in both directions every day, both for school and for work. And now they are through with me, so they get to simply file for bankruptcy and walk away? Along with entering the USAF this was supposed to be my attempt at making a better life for myself, as well as a family. These people for decades have been slowly, methodically, deliberately stealing from people as well as the government. And now their game is up, and they are going to get away with it by filing for bankruptcy, and leaving all of these people with a lifetime of debt, and all that goes with it. There are lower forms of life, but not many, these people shouldn't be able to call themselves Americans for what they've done to people. And they are going to be allowed to walk away? I'm sure they had some of the best lawyers around advising them for what's coming, and they have the best possible outcome for themselves, how nice for them.

All ITT Tech students have been deceived and targeted for their social class or military background in order for ITT Tech's own selfish gain. We were all filled with hopes and dreams of a brighter future and ITT Tech filled those promises of only providing hopes and dreams knowing that their educational accreditation would not hold up to industry standards.

Comment: Attended ITT-Tech in Arlington, TX from Dec 2009-March 2014. Graduated 2012 with A.A.S in IT-Computer Network Systems with GPA 3.60. Graduated with Honors and as a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Graduated March 2014 with B.A.S. in IT-Information Systems and CyberSecurity with GPA 3.74. Graduated as Co-Salutatorian. When I first entered ITT, I was looking for video game design program. Was mislead into the CADD program. After first 2 quarters I complained to my representative and they admitted they mislead me and that I would have to pay for the three classes I didn't need to take after being placed in a Computer program (CNS). I wasn't told all of the specific courses in the "computer program" but was eager to eventually learn coding to learn how to create some games. That is when I was in my 2nd quarter into CNS when I went back to my representative asking when the designing was going to come about and I was told they don't offer a video game design program at their school, that I was mislead. I figured I was already over $3k in debt and should ride it out with my Associate's. My last quarter in CNS, we were all told if we continued into the IT Bachelor program that "they" would cut the Bachelor's tuition in HALF of what the Associate's program was. So instead of another $40k-$50k, we have to pay for the associate's, they would cut that in HALF and add it on top of the $40k-$50k we already owe. I decided a Bachelor's in CyberSecurity was the right direction and completed that program, never missing a day of class. According to my loans, the information they gave us about "cutting the tuition in half" was entirely untrue. I had a parent sign for a Parent Plus loan because apparently I already had "too many loans" to get more for my bachelor's degree. This was not brought to my attention until I was in my 2nd / 3rd quarter of my Bachelors. Well not even 6 months after I graduated with my Bachelors, my parent had to start making $500+ /monthly payments for my loan and is still paying it to keep their government job. The jobs I am able to obtain don't even cover the monthly payments on top of what FedLoans wants from me. I had to put them into forbearance. I am currently unemployed and have no way of making any payments on a thing and do not intend to do so. Now, I am very happy with my education from ITT, I made the very best out of it and still study from my books and this is why I am even able to get the jobs I have in the past. But as a student at the TOP of her class, I am still UNABLE to make any of these ridiculous payments. I HAVE lost a great job deal due to the fact ITT is an unaccredited college and/or not a "REAL" University. I am struggling in the state of MD to find a job in my field that doesn't require certifications and security clearances, and this was something ITT lacked informing their students about. I am furious and I know I am not the only one who needs their voice heard. If it wasn't for my parents I would be living on the streets right now thanks to ITT-Tech.

Comment: I completed my course requirements to qualify for an Associate of Science degree in the School of Drafting and Design Technology on August 24, 2016 at the ITT Technical Institute's Clive, Iowa, campus (#117). Two weeks later, ITT Education Services announced their filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and the resulting closure of all 130 of their campuses across the U.S. I've already accepted the fact that the degree I have yet to receive will be practically worthless in the eyes of prospective employers. They've been turning me down for the past 6 months before I can even schedule initial interviews. This isn't just due to the fact that employers already discount the value of the education ITT Tech provides. This additional job-killing problem is partially-related to ITT Tech's sketchy recruitment practices. Lord forbid that pre-enrollment background checks of students interrupt the flow of Federal Student Loan dollars that ITT Tech believes it otherwise deserves!!! Tough luck if a few hapless graduates (and student debt-holders) can't get hired for jobs their student debt was supposed to pay for!!! ITT Tech's profit-driven budget is too TIGHT to worry about placing students who have prior blemishes on their record. It's BUYER BEWARE... right? WRONG! But that's a completely different issue that has reduced the value of an ITT Tech diploma that I still don't have in-hand, even though I supposedly GRADUATED SIX WEEKS AGO!!! Consider the following: today's date is October 19, 2016, and I have yet to receive any official documentation acknowledging my completion of required course studies within ITT Tech's School of Drafting and Design Technology program. Therefore, I am not officially a GRADUATE of ITT Technical Institute, which means that no diploma for my much-anticipated Associate of Science degree is yet forthcoming. I, therefore, have not "officially graduated from ITT Tech with my AS diploma in-hand". • Furthermore, since no notice of program completion is physically in my possession, and no diploma is yet available to me to prove to prospective employers that I have indeed EARNED any DEGREE whatsoever from ITT Tech, I continue to consider myself ENROLLED as a student at ITT Tech. I am submitting my official application for a CLOSED SCHOOL LOAN DISCHARGE to the U.S. Department of Education with a copy of this Strike submission, on October 19, 2016, enjoining my name in support of this very necessary STRIKE. Thank you!!!

They lied about their connections in related industries and employer interest in their graduates. They were obviously interested in getting federal funds. Absentee students were kept on their rolls so the federal funds would not be interrupted. The instructors were really slacking and the curriculum was something anyone could get at a community college for way less money. etc... etc...

I was promised I could do this no problem as they were accredited by blah blah. This is not the case. Many schools I have talked to do not take these credits at all so I would get "elective credits" and basically have to start from scratch with my GE and nursing courses. If I would have known this from the beginning I would have not obtained my degree from there. Now I am an RN which is great but not where I want to be - stuck and in debt. I'm not the only one.

I never will with this piece of toilet paper ITT tech calls a "Accredited Degree." I feel stupid in thinking that Government and Cooperate institution really gave two craps about the disadvantaged public in education. We were lied to by ITT tech. We dream of being contributing members of society. The Government shoveled out millions in Federal loans without a blink of an eye . I want justice. I want closure to this. I want to continue with my education without owing a large chunk of money for nothing in return. It is a relief that I am not alone in this.

Comment: I considered ITT Technical Institute for their Architectural Design course which was included in their CAD program/course; I stated this to admissions official said I was making the right choice for my future. I also mentioned that I would want to further my education (after receiving my Associates) to pursue a Bachelor's in Architectural engineering. He said this school does not offer that program but I would have no problem transferring my credits to another school to pursue that endeavor.  He also said that job placement is available to all students after graduation. After being accepted and the ink was dry on my loan applications, I attended my first day of classes only to find that the Architectural course had been removed from the curriculum and replaced by plastic injection molding and die design. After questioning admin about this, I was told that Architectural design was no longer a "high demand" career. I wanted to quit because Architectural design was THE only reason I wanted to attend (I didn't need training in AutoCAD because I had learned all I needed to know about it in my last year of high school). But I decided to stick with the program because it was in "high demand“ and I was sure their was no way to back out now and a degree would surely be of importance to potential employers.  After graduation I went to ITT's job placement department and was told to look at the cork board in the hallway, there I will find local job postings, I complained that they were not holding true to their job placement claim. To that, she replied "we only help those with the highest GPA find a job." I can say a lot about the staff (mostly bad) but the one thing that stood out the most was how much teachers lacked in skills for the position they were in and how our plastic injection molding substitute teacher became the Dean after the previous Dean left like many other staff members. I was lied to and deceived from the beginning, through the middle, and at the end.

I am actively trying to create a payment plan. There is no one to talk to. The only time or way they will contact you, is when you're in default. So, I'm realizing that leaving it in default (1) costs less, (2) someone will reach out to me, instead of calling them everyday for 2 years.

Comment: I went to ITT Technical Institute and graduated in 2001. I began a career in Drafting/Design. I worked for about a decade in my field but barely made enough to raise two kids on my own. I tried to go back to ITT Tech for higher education and I moved from VA to FL to try to obtain a bachelors degree only to find out the classes I needed had been moved from night classes to classes during the day. I couldn't attend because I needed to work full time. I moved back to VA.
As my career progressed & I found it harder and harder to find work. I did go back to ITT Tech for courses to learn design programs that they were learning since I graduated. I was placed in second quarter and couldn't effectively learn the program(s). I needed to start learning in first quarter. I was never offered post graduation or employment counseling from ITT Tech to help me stay up to date on industry programs/requirements. I am now unemployed for over 4 years with over 30,000 in student loans.

I attended ITT Tech from March 2009- December 2013 i received an associates and bachelor's degree in Computer Electronics and Engineering Technology, which later was change to Electrical Engineering and Communications after many students including myself complaint about the programs lack of emphasis in computer related teaching but rather all in electricity. This has been by far the worst experience for me, i began to attend classes that march with joy and and in hope of becoming a professional that could not only support myself but also provide for my family. The school seemed unprepared all the time, teachers late or always in a rush maybe distracted from their full time jobs during the day, one teacher even confessed to me one day that he never got prepared for his class because he was too busy with his day job teaching at a University. The atmosphere was not what they had showed in their tv commercials, students use to plagiarized all the time especially during test or home works and the teachers never said anything. At certain semesters, you were called out of class to go "sign financial aid paperwork" there was usually paperwork related to Fafsa and taxes, it was overwhelming at times. Not too long ago, i have found out that they open two savings accounts under my name at two different financial institutions, i wonder if this has happen to any students? luckily, i have proof of one account still open under "ITT Savings" , so this not only shows that this school has deliberately lied to me about job placement but also tampered with my personal information.

After almost 3 years paying back private and government loans and 100k~ in total debt, it is the responsibility of this school to be held accountable for their actions and the burden that they have cause me and the rest of the ITT students. Most of my check goes to pay school loans and i have nothing to show for, it is really depressing.

ITT bragged how they have high job placement and showed me salaries for graduates. None of this was true. ITT took credit for placing me at the job already had before I enrolled and after ten years I am not making anywhere near what they told me. I never made enough to repay my loans while living a modest life. My credit is terrible because of late payments of my loan which Sallie Mae made impossible to do. I am ashamed and I won't even put ITT on my resume anymore because of the bad feedback I had from companies. ITT was a papermill and obviously didn't want to do anything to change that. Comment: ITT promised inflated salary and never backed up any of their job placement promises. I was led into loans via an automated process and never understood how much my classes were costing or going to cost even upon inquiry. Their wonderful 0% interest 'temporary credit' forced me into private loans with interest rates of over 14% totaling nearly $20k. Even with relief from my federal loans I'm still going to be followed by a good chunk of my worthless degree's debt which can't be discharged. What I have come across while trying to use my degree was that most attorneys wanted almost unrealistic expectations for graduates to have three to five years experience and since I couldn't find any experience without doing unpaid internships, I could not find a paying job in this field. ITT Tech was also unable to assist me with finding a paying job. The recruiters and career counselors were very unhelpful. I have thought about going back to school but I am kind of afraid to try and also wondering in what field there will be an immediate job opening for me.

Comment: As an ITT Tech alumni for 4 years I have been forced into more debt and a lesser quality of life than I can handle. ITT didn't explain the student loan process or the high amounts of interest or the number of loans that would be needed. They somehow allowed my disabled mother to get a loan for me knowing that she'd never be able to pay it back. We were lied to from the very second of walking onto the campus. There is no lifetime of job placement assistance as promised. There are no employers who desire ITT grads as promised. There are no jobs that I am qualified for after receiving a degree from ITT as promised. ITT has been nothing but broken promises and turmoil for the students of this fraudulent, racketeering, deceptive, deceitful, and criminal organization. I refuse to pay for subpar and subprime education I received from this shady business that the federal government has been investigating for years and continued to let operate knowing it was defrauding innocent citizens of this nation

Fell for the same "car salesman" pitch with ITT tech. Was given all of these promises including a job at the end that would make the payments easy and that they would get me a job when done. Got my associates degree at ITT in Minnesota. during the time i found MYSELF 2 interships and my own career. When i finally got a call about looking for work i informed them i found my own job as i was tired of waiting on them. The persons response on the phone was asking if i could fill out the paperwork they have for job location. They wanted me to sign paperwork stating they helped find me the job. I have not made my payments since after 6 months of graduating and in 2013 and not about to start.

I didn't have any knowledge about their "predatory lending tactics" so i enrolled with a positive attitude. I did however do extremely well with a constant 4.0 GPA for the 2 years I attended. Once I graduated, I found out the hard way that an ITT degree is not worth much... It is for this reason that I had trouble paying my loans. The school lied about guaranteeing that the students would have a job upon graduation and will forever receive employment assistance by the school. None of that was true. The government needs to step up so we can rid our economy of this debt and make our beautiful nation whole again.

Comment: After being promised a better future, I went to ITT TECH Oxnard Campus, where I got my Associates of Science in Criminal Justice. I had already been employed as a Security Guard since 2002. I started itt tech in 2007. I moved and finished my Bachelors Degree in June 2013 at the San Bernardino campus. After multiple promises the school made to put in in a better job within my field, I realized that they lied and never did. I was promised that I would be making a miniumim of 40,000 dollars after graduation. I have been a Security Guard making min. Wages for the past 14 years. I applied to law offices, corrections, probation, parole, police departments and I always got the same "thank you, but no thank you" response or a flat out we do not reconize your degrees. I can not live on a min wage job and pay rent, and other bills. I am over 100k in debt and have nothing to show for it. This debt has led me to have anxienty, and depression. I feel like I could never own a house, or provide enough for my family. I went to college to be able to have a finacial future for myself and my family and I was lied to. My degrees did not even help me attain a raise as a security guard. My wife has almost 4 degrees, and is finishing her Master's in Education and owes less than I do. I got lied to and scammed and this has caused hardship finacial and emotional hardship within myself and my family. I feel like because of ITT TECHS lies and debt, that I will never be able to provide properly for my family. I was aslo unaware of half the loan debt that I do have from ITT TECH, I only found out about it through my credot reports. I do not believe that I should have to pay my federal loans nor my private loans because I was scammed with not only a poor education, but false promises and hope. I did not think that something could cause me to lose hope about my future, but ITT TECH did. I feel like a failure as a human being, a failure as a husband and as a family man. I am glad the school is closed down, but I am anxious and depressed about the debt I have inccured because of this place. I truly can not afford this making miniumum wage.

Comment: As an advocate for alumni and past attendees of ITT and other for-profit predatory institutions, I could go on all day. In the end though, I'm like the rest. I fell for a hard sell, and then was bullied into remaining at ITT time and again after feeling the whole system at ITT was off. I was told that I would be placed in a 6 figure job. I had a 4.0 at ITT and 6 years post graduation make less than $50k/year, and had a stagnant wage until the beginning of 2016. I worked for a Fortune 500 and could not get promoted out of entry level in large part because of my degree. I had terrible credit when I approached ITT, so striking now isn't going to hurt a barrel bottom credit score anyway. I have less than nothing to lose, financially. And those desperate for a teachout are fooling themselves. They need to get their predatory loans discharged and start over. I only wish I could.

Comment: I have already paid thousands on my federal and private loans. This debt has destroyed my credit, from the over-exuberant reporting practices of the PEAKS loan processors. I am now in default with a loan I was forced to take out with very little information. I was then lied to about the fact that my 8 percent loan had been acquired by another processing company that I had zero information about. After performing my own personal mini-strike until information was mailed to me, I found out the interest rate had doubled and that I was making minimum payments. 3 years of spinning my wheels and no progression. Having already spent $8000 + in a three year period, I consider my private loan paid in full. My original agreement with the school was for $8000 at zero percent interest. We are done here, remove this insane interest remainder off my credit so I can get on with my life.

Comment: I was definitely conned into going to ITT. I was a single mother with 2 small children that were 5 and 4 years old. I went to the school one day because I saw a commercial on TV advertising Criminal Justice. They told me it was a brand new program at the school. I explained my situation that I didn't make much money, I had small children, etc etc. She said, "that's ok! Because once you graduate you can make great money and support yourself and your children!" She got me hyped. But going to the school, working my butt off, graduating with high honors, got me absolutely nowhere. They didn't help me find a job, as promised. Their excuse kept being that the program was new, blah blah blah. Now almost 10 years later, STILL $35 grand in debt, I have an awesome job... In accounting. Those people took advantage of a single mother with a part time job and scanned me into believing that I would easily be able to pay the loans because of my excellent, high paying job THEY WOULD HELP ME OBTAIN. I really hope that something can be done to them, that we all can stick it to them, like they did us!

Comment: I was sucked into the school after talking to recruiter who promised me 100% guaranty job placement in my field of study with in 30 days to 3 months after graduation. At the time I was a war refugee, new to the country and naïve to believe that. Later when I was asking about the job placement, over and over again, I was constantly being reassured that my degree covers large field of digital media and finding me a job would not be a problem (they never offered to look anything for me - matter of fact, I had an angry e-mail from recruiter and "job placement" coordinator not to bother them and to go look for it myself). Out of EVERYONE in my class and everyone who was in my program in the entire country, who went and got DEGD degree, none of us obtained and received job with in the field of study. We were promised to have Job Placement assistance and all we got was temp job offers for $10/hr. Currently, I am still working in same company I was working before with exception that now I have loan debts larger than my mortgage. This is putting tremendous stress on our family and ability to live normal life. We are 2 income family and my entire paycheck and parts of my wife's income goes towards paying off student loans. I will admit, this makes me depressed and I cry at night sometimes knowing that I can not provide my kids with the opportunities that I could have before I was scammed by ITT, but most of all, they can not get me back my time away from my kids taken by student loan debt I occurred and having to pay them back with such a high interest.

As a person who works and is licensed in the lending and loan industry I'm appalled at the full on predatory loans that ITT Tech has structured her with. She owes more today than she did after graduating 13 years ago - after paying! We are married. It's my debt too. Comment: I enrolled into ITT Tech for Drafting and Design and was promised a Degree. Unfortunately I was lied to by all of the staff that worked at ITT Tech. After further research, I found that it would only be a certificate. I called many architecture firms and they stated that they do not recognize that certificate as any further education and would never hire anyone from ITT Tech. After obtaining $13,000 for only 1 year of school, I tried transferring to other colleges and they don't recognize any of those credits. I refuse to pay for something that was sold fraudulently by the school. When I left I was told I had to pay back $1,300 to Sallie Mae and I would be free of all loans. Then I received a notice in the mail that I owed over $13,000. I will never be able to pay this back, not only the amount but the interest will make sure that never happens. Everything that was told to myself and friends I made there were all lies. We are all stuck with wrongful and fraudulent debt. I enrolled to get ahead and find a career but after this, I'm even further behind. Debt forgiveness is the only right thing to do at this point for not only me but for all of us.

Comment: At the time of starting ITT I was a very young father and the recruiter focused on my weakness. Basically he told me if I didn't get an education at ITT I would not be able to give my son a good life. It was a high pressure sales meeting with false hope and over inflated statistics on their graduates. I didn't do great in high school and with little money for school it sounded great. After graduating the career center was a joke. This "school" ruined my future.

Comment: I entered ITT-Tech in 2010 as a young single mother who was trying to set a better future for my child and me. I didn't have any knowledge of what I was getting myself into. I believed the advisors as they promised me a great education and a wonderful career for my future. They told me that after I graduate I would be assisted with job placements. I took that with me to the graduation. I graduated in 2012; ready to step in to my promising career. It is now 2016 and I have yet to receive help from ITT-Tech with job placements. I've been struggling since I graduated from ITT-Tech. Working dead in jobs living pay check to pay check just to make ends meet. I haven't paid on my student loans at all. Not that I didn't want to but because I couldn't afford to. I was bribed into a school that only was looking to gain profit and not to help people for the better.

Comment: Like so many others, I went to ITT Tech after taking a short break after high school. I went for two quarters, roughly six months. $40, 000 in debt at 19 years old was not a fair way to start my life. This money was lent to me without being fully explained, and some was borrowed in my name without my knowledge. I could have understood if I was royally messing up my life with drugs or crime at that point, but I was trying to better my life; and now, I join in this strike as ITT's behavior is not only unfair, but as I see it, completely ILLEGAL

THEY SENT ME A LOAN AMOUNT TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCHOOL. 75% THROUGH THE PROGRAM I STILL HADNT EVEN BEGUN LEARNING WHAT I WAS ORIGINALLY PROMISED TO LEARN. As such, the whole transaction with ITT and any creditors used by ITT is a fraud as well. Comment: My bachelors is useless and I am so deep in the hole that Ill never see the light of day. There were many promises including "job services" for life. ITTs idea of job services was more akin to surfing the web and emailing links (most of which I found myself and had already applied). When I think of job placement I think of persons within the university with actual contacts. I was lied to about the entrance exam (and found out later that the "counselors" received bonuses for each new sign up against federal law). It goes on and on!

After taking out the student loans, 76K, I found that not only was the job placement department lacking, I was lied to about the number of employers that would come to ITT. I only saw 2 companies looking for CADD students. And Boeing NEVER came as I was told they regularly did. This was the main selling point for. As I went on job interviews, ones I found that the job placement department coundn't, I found that I was unprepared foe even a basic entry led rafting position. Not sure where they got their over inflated job placement stats. These loans are hurting my family financially. And they are affecting my credit score.

Comment: I attended in 2008-2010. I was enrolled in their Computer Programing, but since they did not have the prerequisite classes available, I was placed in classes 2 semesters ahead of where I should be. Their were 3 others students like myself who had this done to them too. We had the same classes together and had started at the same time. We later found out from other students and admin that we did not start the program correctly. Instead of them telling us to come back when the course started up, they signed us up right then. All of our teachers held us to a different standards and kept moving us along even though we knew we did not master the class. Renewing our school loans semester after semester. We knew why but at that point we felt so lost and confused. We did our best, but in the end I dropped out of the program. We tried to find a way to transfer to a different school, but they had lied to us once more: the classes were non-transferable. I never thought this place could be a scam since it had Government School Loans. I was wrong and now $22,000 still left in loans.

Comment: I am joining the strike as well! I attended ITT from 2011-2013. When I enrolled they lied to me about the CNS programs quality, credit transfer options, and even the amount of credits I would need to complete my degree. After the initial enrollment, they never once asked me to come in to do FASA or repacks. I later found out that they had done them without my permission or knowing. When I figured it out around my fourth semester I started to ruffle some feathers within the administration. At that time they threatened to expel me for cheating and inciting violence and disobedience throughout the students and faculty. Once I let it go they never came back to me with these false statements. I found that they had added numerous loans to my financial aid as well as a private loan that I have had removed from my credit due to being fraudulent. I refuse to repay my loan and am currently looking for representation to sue both ITT for academic and financial negligence as well as the department of Education for for negligence, allowing this to happen on their watch to so many unsuspecting victims thinking they were doing something good for themselves. The Department of Ed is directly responsible for this. The many investigations into ITT's practices as well as student lawsuits show that they have none for some time. Even the statement made by the Department of ED hold them accountable for knowing in advance. "The school’s decisions have put its students and millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded federal student aid at risk. Last week, the Department of Education took oversight actions to prevent ITT from continuing to add to that risk. When we made that decision, we did not take it lightly. One possible outcome of oversight actions is that a school may choose to close rather than take corrective actions, which can cause disruption and disappointment for current students. Ultimately, we made a difficult choice to pursue additional oversight in order to protect you, other students, and taxpayers from potentially worse educational and financial damage in the future if ITT was allowed to continue operating without increased oversight and assurances to better serve students.

Not only am I $38,000 in debt from this associate's degree, I am now ashamed to say I graduated from this place when at the time I graduated, I was extremely proud of myself. That was before I realized how I was robbed and how ITT took advantage of me and my situation. If this school has been under investigation for as long as the articles are saying it has, I don't understand why the Department of Education would allow them to register new students and ruin their lives as well. I deserve to have my student loans forgiven. My degree is useless and ITT is a monkey circus to employers.

Comment: I received my Associates Degree of Applied Science in Information Technology/Multimedia in Dec 2007 from ITT Technical Institute, in Norfolk, VA. Along with a 3.38 GPA, my total debt is $38,000+ for my education (only for an Associates Degree at ITT Tech). Yet, I have received very little value. At first, I was VERY DESPERATE & HUNGRY to get into any college and earn my degree in the field in Information Technology/ Multimedia so I could make something of myself. Now I realize how I have been ripped off through the poor quality of education I received in some of the classes & the expensive tuition that I am paying for here in 2015. I was a student and a customer. I first enrolled in November of 2005. I enrolled because I wanted to learn how to make websites, graphics, computer programming, video games, cinema, music, animations, storyboards, etc. I truly love that stuff & have a deep passion for those aspects. However, many of the classes that I took were not worth the $38,000+ that I am paying for right now. What I expected was the best of the best, state-of-the-art training, and hands-on technology. I expected the world's greatest quality of education. Also, I saw & heard complaints that college credits from ITT Technical Institute are non-transferable (if only I was made AWARE of that from the get-go, along with the total ACTUAL number of student loan debt accrued for an Associates Degree, from ITT Tech, WITH interest!). Second, another sad factor is the ITT Tech representatives tell these new recruits that, as soon as they graduate, they are supposed to be guaranteed a job in their profession, especially after they were pressured to enroll. That's what happened to me. Ever since, I've been reading & researching different complaints about ITT Tech, & it appears that the supposed-to-be guaranteed job placement never happens for a majority of folks, including myself. However, I do have to thank career services for telling me about Job Fairs & opportunities around my area, despite the fact that my chances of being hired for college-related work at those events & opportunities is, virtually nil or non-existent. I wonder why America, as of 2015, is allowing this kind of price-gouging, low quality, noneducational policies to happen to me & us hard-working ITT Tech alumni & enrolled students. I am apologizing to myself that I got myself into this educational and financial mess. I could have took this $37,000+ and done something very positive with it like either saved it, enrolled into Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, Tidewater Community College, or even started my own business. Now, that I have thought about it, if I had to do it all over again, I WOULD. I think that this school is choking the life out of the majority of these students (who can not hardly make ends meet) financially and scamming taxpayers. I have been applying for jobs lately, and I have had no luck. It feels like life is telling me, in so many words, to "give it up." But, I am not giving it up.

Comment: I was scammed by ITT big time. They lied to me about everything, including how much it would cost and whether I would need a co-signer. They just went ahead even though I had NO CREDIT HISTORY, NO JOB, NO CO SIGNER OR INCOME THAT WOULD QUALIFY ANYONE FOR A LOAN. Now I have a degree that is essentially worthless, and I want to change jobs but nobody will hire me anywhere else . I wasn't even prepared for the entry level job I received, but I faked it until I made it. ... I enrolled in 2010 & graduated from Rancho Cordova, CA ITT Tech Campus in 2012. ... The DOE has garnished me twice because ITT told them where I was working since I was lucky enough to get an entry level Job, but with other bills I will never be able to pay off this $48,000 loan for an A.S. in their Computer & Electronic Engineering Technology program. If I wanted to go back there to get a Bachelor degree, I can't and those classes won't transfer anywhere else legitimate. I would have to start all over to get a real degree. And how would I pay for another education anyways since I am still stuck forever with this debt hanging over my head? At what I can afford, $132/month, I am essentially not making any dent in the loan, just paying interest. It is ridiculous and I can't do this anymore. Will joining this strike allow me to contact DOE and the Loan Servicer Great Lakes and tell them I refuse to pay until the government and others filing against them finish their cases and address all student loans and issues? Its ridiculous that they are forgiving loans for students who were current and who graduated within 120 days of the school closures but they leave the rest of us hanging and stuck with debt for a worthless education; IT IS REALLY DISCRIMINATORY IN MY OPINION BECAUSE ITT WAS BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE GOVERNMENT FOR THE SAME THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO ME SINCE 2011 WHILE I WAS STILL IN SCHOOL. Please Help, I Will Do Anything It Takes To Make This Go Away so I can build my Credit and Get On With My Life.

Comment: I attended ITT Tech in St. Rose, LA, for their game design curriculum which had been falsely advertised to me. When I learned how fraudulent the program was, I graduated with my AA degree for multimedia in 2007 and did not pursue the bachelor's program with the corrupt institution. The program the school offered did not provide the appropriate education needed to even come close to providing the skills one would need to break into the gaming industry. ITT taught students 3DS Max for 3D modeling and VB.NET for programming, but there isn't a single game development studio which uses either of these applications in the game design field.

When trying to learn the software if a student had a question about an advanced modeling technique that the instructor couldn't answer - which happened quite a bit - then we were directed to seek the answer online since "Google was our friend". Throughout the curriculum we spent about an hour in the classroom for each of the classes in the curriculum and then a few hours in the computer super lab doing tutorials out of the textbooks, but we spent as much time doing web searches for online tutorials as we did using the coursework materials provided by ITT. This begs the question, "Who was really educating us? ITT or Google?" On the administrative side of game design even the templates ITT used for a game design document were outdated and not relevant to a constantly evolving and one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

The real shocking epiphany of how fraudulent the institution's curriculum was when I attended the Red Stix Festival at LSU in Baton Rouge in 2006. The festival was a collection of various seminars being lectured by recruiters from some of the top gaming such as MIdway or ID Software. The recruiters told many ambitious people looking to get into the game design industry to try not to be a jack of all trades and warn everyone not to try to excel in all of the game design fields - such as modelling, rigging and animating, texturing, level design and AI programming - all at once. Pick one field and learn it the best you can. They were also straightforward and blunt enough to tell everyone that the studios in the gaming industry seek out the best of the best in each field and due to the fact that they receive thousands of demo reels from potential applicants everyday if your demo reel doesn't utterly blow them away within the first fifteen seconds then it won't be viewed in its entirety and will most likely end up in the trash can. I saw demo reels from the best ITT had to offer be torn apart and harshly criticized by the recruiters. I witnessed demo reels of top notch quality from people attending major accredited universities not on par with what the recruiters were seeking out of applicants. This was the defining moment when I learned that ITT was not going to be able to teach me the skills I needed to get into the industry.

I don't know anyone from my class at ITT in the gaming industry right now. Most of my former classmates whom I knew personally went on to other schools to pick up a different trade such as bartending. Now we are all left with a large mountain of debt for a grossly misrepresented education which has not benefited any of us. Oh, and the ITT job placement program? I don't know anyone it has genuinely helped get a job in their field of study.

Comment: Aside from the degree being worthless, my biggest issue is that I was conned into loans I never signed for. I never knew the amount of the loan or interest rate and therefore I should not, as under any other type of loan, be held accountable for them. They lied about my certifications, job placement and employed salesmen instead of guidance counselors. I was new to this country and excited to work hard for an education and start living the dream. I now have $60,000 in debt, can't buy a house for my family, and an IT degree that is laughed at. Why didn't we get loan contracts? ??

ITT executives need to be charged and all loans dismissed. This is not what America should be representing itself as. We are better than this.

Now i have found a job, no not in my field but it's decent but it still does not give me that ability to pay the amount these federal people want me to pay.
Let's see pay my student loan or eat i think i will eat this week.

They never helped with finding a job like they said they would, which was one of the major reasons I went.  I have more debt with my federal and private loans (the latter I didn't even know I had till years later) than my younger brother that went to OSU and graduated with a bachelors in biochemical engineering. Comment: I got a my worthless degree in Drafting and Design in 2007. Boy did this school sell me a dream that would change my life with a salary upwards to 100K. When I finished my program they found me a job as a drafter for 10 bucks an hour. Keep in mind I have a family. I was in a construction job already making 16 an hour. Why would I take that pay cut? I stayed with the same government entity I was already working for and never used my degree. I want my debt erased so that way I can go back to a credible school to obtain a degree with some value behind it. All ITT did was put me in debt for the rest of my life, ruined my credit, and credit is everything in this world. Without credit your life changes drastically even down to socially and emotionally. I could never buy that house like I thought I would be able to. I will never own a new vehicle because I have no credit. That makes providing for my family 100 times more difficult. I was better off never attending this school than to be enslaved with debt that is life changing. The deceit, the predatory lending, the lies and lies this school sells to get your federal loans. This school was for profit, and strictly for profit.

Comment: I was a manager a Burger King and hated it. Decided to go to college. I had been building computers as a hobby and figured I'd make it a career. I enrolled at ITT in Sep of 06, graduated in July of 09 with an associates in CNS. I've had horrible luck finding IT jobs. ALL of the IT jobs I've had were contract labor and never found permanent IT employment. Every IT position I held, I was working with people who had no degree or certifications! Career Services was a joke. They got me ONE interview for a job I wasn't remotely qualified for. When I enrolled I was showed this pamphlet stating an associates would warrant me 45k a year in salary, but I never came close to that. I've been on Income Based Repayment with 45k to the Fed since I graduated in 2009, and my private loans, 24k worth, are in collections. Any additional income gained went to paying on the student loans. How is a "college" education worth it when the pay increase goes to paying for the loans? While working IT, I still lived paycheck to paycheck and still am now. I'm 35. I should not be living with my parents! I'm currently working at Burger King, again! College was supposed to fix working that kind of job. My experience with ITT has caused me so much depression that I was suicidal. A Sallie Mae employee (now Navient) once told me to get a second job to pay for my private loans. I wish I had never gone to ITT and just gotten certifications instead. Most permanent and well-paying IT positions require certifications. I'm supposed to pay out more time and money that I don't have for an education that I should have received in the first place? Any IT knowledge I have was gained before attending ITT or on the job after I graduated. I thought I did what I was supposed to do to achieve the American dream only to have it crushed by student debt. Working at Burger King, paycheck to paycheck, living with my parents is not living! By society's standards I'm a loser! I would have absolutely no problem paying for student loans if I received what I was sold! If the education was beneficial, I'd be making enough money to pay the loans and still be able to LIVE! I REFUSE TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE PAYING FOR A LIFE I WORKED SO HARD FOR, BUT HAVE BEEN DENIED!

Comment: My issue is almost identical to Joseph White's story. When I approached the Spokane Washington ITT in 2005, I had very specific questions about their "hands on" approach and what could I expect upon graduation. I even asked if we would have MS certificates or at least the opportunity to gain them at a reduce cost and I was told "yes". That of course was a complete lie. They lured me in by telling me about their 95% job placement rate and six figure jobs. Oh and lets not forget about all of the commercials boasting about kids sending their parents on vacations after graduation cause that was a load of baloney. So was the "hands on" method. It was mostly "in theory" method. When I graduated with an Associates Degree in Computer Networking Systems I was shouldered with over 40K in debt. I can't buy a home or a new car because of the debt I owe on my loans and paying them back has been a financial nightmare! Sallie Mae (now Navient) have been complete and utter tyrants when it comes to trying to work with them. They have threatened me and call me starting from six in the morning until late evening. By the way, ITT never did find a job placement for me. I went to the Department of Labor and found my first IT job. I have never even come close to a six figure job. The most I've made is around 42K but now the market seems to be flooded with IT techs so companies aren't paying much for IT. I've even relocated for employment and still, no six figure job. They lied to me about my loans and repayment amounts. They pressured me into signing for loans that I wasn't clear on and when I asked for additional information, they told me they would go over everything with everyone later, they never did. ITT defrauded me about the kind of education I would receive, costs, certifications and quality of education but most of all, they have taken away from my family financially. I want my debts forgiven and ITT held accountable.

Comment: It still frustrates me that there are many bullshit promises out there about how education can better your life with a better job and better pay for a better life. I'm tired of all that and there being no real commitment from their end. We put out efforts in to graduate, however long it takes. Through good and bad times we make graduation happen. Yet, upon graduation, the job market is just as crap as if one didn't go to school and the school(s) aren't really helping in any sense. The only help one gets is stupid links from like job hunting websites. That is bullshit help. I don't think one should have to pay for the education unless it guarantees a job. Education isn't really something like a television set or a new pair of pants that you can't take back for a refund in case it didn't work out. I recently enrolled in a chance to have my loans forgiven with all those laws going around to help with student loans. Yet I have a feeling that I may be getting scammed. Once I find out that I was scammed I don't know what to do other then just give up on paying my loans. The government should just completely wipe out all student debt and start over with whole new and approved-by-the- public better laws and policies for student loans. If there really was a true concern on this topic, I don't see why they can't just do that. Cancel all debt and start over fresh. Just like we all have to do when the education we worked for doesn't come through.

I am 12 credits from earning that bachelors. ITT kept taking loans out for the bachelors program putting me in classes before I was suppose to graduate with my associates in September 2009, but they graduated me June 2010. Now I am stuck paying back a bachelors degree I never got to finish, but still got charged for it. ITT associates programs cost $42,000 and their bachelors program cost $80,000. I'm stuck in the middle paying back $72,000 dollars for an associate. They put me in serious debt and I am trying to get forgiveness or at least get it knocked down to what I graduated with. I am 32, have to live with my parents because I CAN NOT get a loan or get approved for any apartment or a vehicle. ITT made themselves sound really cool because they offered a game design program that nowhere in Iowa or the midwest offered. Having stated ITT Technical Institute on a resume is pretty much saying " Don't hire me, even if I have when to a college and have a worthless associate" I was hoping for an awesome career in video games, but it's shattered.

I have no room in my budget to pay back these student loans. I was for the first time in my 40's going to school and I felt great. But realized that I was robbed. These loans are not cheap. I have so many sleepless nights worrying how or where will the money come to pay these loans back. I felt like I was on the verge of a break down. These loans came due and my dream of owning a home is no longer an option as my credit score dropped so low as to the amount of debt of my student loans. I don't know what to do. I am usually a person of my word but I can't pay these loans. What they promised is not what I received. To hear and be made aware that the Department of Education allowed these types of schools to remain open to prey and hurt so many people is heart breaking. My dreams have now been shattered by this.

Comment: I went to ITT Tech because I was told throughout my struggles in high school that if I got a degree I would be able to make more money and join the middle class. I struggled with school but graduated in 2009 with 62,000 dollars in debt. After my federal aid ran out I was encouraged to apply for private loans from ITT and I did. They told me that if I didn’t get private loans that I couldn’t finish school and would still have to pay all the federal loans back. I had the choice of taking the private loans or not finishing school. Some of the private loans from ITT have interest rates of 9 to 13%. I didn’t get a job right away and I couldn’t afford my loan payments. I am now employed and making ok money but my debt after Navient fees and late charges and capitalized interest is now 122,000. Now I will owe Navient until I am 75.

Comment: Due to ITT Tech taking more money than they ever should have needed I wasn't able to continue my education. I received an Associates degree through them and when I went to get my BA degree I was told by another school that ITT Tech had capped my federal funding allowance already which is $58,000. If I were to pursue my BA degree I only had $1,200 left of federal loans. Now my degree with them is worthless and I owe $70,000 from interest and private loans they somehow got approved. All I have is an Associates. I get harassing calls all the time from creditors threatening to sue me, garnish my wages, arrest me. It is very stressful to say the least.

Comment: I joined ITT in 2008, I was guaranteed that upon completion of Associates Degree I will have a six figure salaried job. I was introduced to Career Services Department and was told that they will provide 100% support and introduce me to hiring managers of the companies and that their is to constantly make connections and invite hiring managers to recruit student from the ITT School, Hold and organize job fairs for school students. I graduated in 2010 and after graduation I went to career services department in ITT just about every day but they were no help other than letting me use their computer. Once in a while some one would just sit down with me and ask me few questions and tell me that they will get back with me with some job leads and setup my interview but that never happened. I was even willing to work minimum wage just so I could keep my loan payment current and feed my kids. The promise of connecting to Hiring Managers of companies those who are looking for IT professionals never became a reality. 6 months passed by the started telling me that the program have changed and my Certification is out dated and I should take more classes and I should loan out more more money to pay for more classes and then I will have better chances to find a job and that they have more managers in line who are waiting to hire new graduates, so now in order for me to get connected with the hiring managers I needed to get another 50k in loan. I had already borrowed over $45,000 to pay ITT Associate Degree I did not think I could afford to cash out more loan to pay ITT as their promises were false and misleading and I needed to feed my kids and I was already stuck with a loan payments and the degree that was of no use.

It was a blow to my morale to hear people talk about a school I thought was highly sought after.

I had to plead with other students for a ride home. After I was failing cause I couldn't get the help I needed to pass a few classes, they had me leave ITT cause I couldn't get to class, so I put up with this for a year and a half. I almost graduated.

Comment: I was a student at ITT Technical Institute in Portland Oregon, school 033. They screwed me, and badly. I am an individual with physical disabilities and I had hoped that graduating at the top of my class with a Bachelor of Science degree would give me some advantage finding a new career, or even give me any advantage getting hired period. Instead, I find myself over qualified and under educated for even the most menial jobs. I feel that my degree from ITT Tech actually is a hindrance to finding any kind of employment. Now, I work at a gas station and make $8.50 an hour with about $85,000 owing on student loans that quite frankly, I will never be able to repay. My credit is worse than it ever was, and I will never be able to buy a house, or get a new car, I can't even get approved for a gas credit card. Education was supposed to turn my life around. It was supposed to give me a career that I could retire from. An education was supposed to allow me to make enough money to be able to save something. Instead, I am just hoping my Social Security Disability payments won’t stop because I have a minimum wage job and a feeling of being totally helpless where my future is concerned. The American Dream has thus far been denied to this 48 year old man. My parents always told me that getting an education would open doors for me in ways that I couldn’t even imagine. Instead I have doors slammed closed because of my education. Home ownership may forever be a dream that is way out of reach. New car, retirement, the ability to make enough money to save something…gone. No chance and no hope. These crooks promised a job with a "partner employer" their exact words. Instead of having these partner employers, the school's Career Services department would cull help wanted ads and present them to the students. Most if not all of these culled jobs were taken from sources like Craigslist and the Oregonian and completely unsuitable for students hoping for an entry level position. I may have been permanently damaged by this organization who took advantage of not just me, but the thousands of students that fell victim to the schools predatory practices. Thank you.

Comment: I am currently in a deferment status as I am back in school learning what I didn't learn at ITT Tech. From ITT, I obtained an associates degree in Computer Networking Systems. How do I have a degree in networking from a school that offered 'hands-on training' and only had access to routers and switches for a few hours in one class? It seemed that their equipment was always 'having issues'. It seemed as though the teachers did not know what was going on most of the time. Most likely due to the fact that the staff turnover rate was quite high. I recall my 'final project' class was being taught by by a former student that just graduated prior to me starting that class. We were pretty much handed the answers to the final. This experience in no way prepared me for IT work. I also was not prepared enough for the 50k a year job I was told I could land right out of graduation. I believe the job I started with was mid to high 20s. Overall, I cannot say I learned much of anything from attending ITT Tech. I can perform an installation of a Windows Operating System with my eyes closed. This is something I already knew how to do prior to my enrollment.

A few months after my graduation, work leads stopped coming though their 'career placement' department, which wasn't too much of a loss, since most of the leads can be found on job sites such as Monster.com, careerfinder.com, etc. None of the interviews seemed to go well, and I feel that employers were turned off by the fact that I attended the diploma mill known as ITT Tech (despite the fact I graduated valedictorian in my area of study). I would like to be forgiven for these my federal loans, since I now am the owner of a diploma from a discredited, and now, closed institution which, from an employer's point of view, is essentially useless.

Comment: My experience with ITT Tech was not what I had expected. Initially I had walked out when it came down to sign up for school loans. One of my requirements for me was to have morning classes only, because I had worked from 3pm to 11pm during the week. The school only kept its promise for the the first three semester, and one day upon receiving my schedule they had me down for all night classes, forcing me to quit my job and seek employment elsewhere. During my time at ITT, I met a lot of professors and although I had some good ones I also had some bad ones. I don't want to use names but one of my CAD classes, my teacher literally did not do anything but front that he was teaching us. one day I came into class about 15 min after it had started and I noticed that we were in lab mode already. So I went up to the teacher and asked, what was our assignment? the teacher responds with, "go on to the web and learn as much as you can about sheet metal." Ok, then I asked, if there is something that I'm turning into you at the end of class., the teachers says' "No." So i'm thinking to myself, "All right, cool" but then I realized that it was not fair tor me or to any of my fellow classmates. I passed that class with an perfect A and I did not turn in one shred of homework or any kind of assignments. The semester after that I found out that the teacher was no longer employed by ITT, so I thought that enough students had complained and that was the result. After Graduation I found out that ITT was offering a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, so I signed up. during my time there, I saw a the same teacher make a return to employment at ITT. Didn't ITT know that he was not any good at teaching students, or maybe they did care about the education we were receiving. This and many more problems I had.

Sadly I had already accrued over $26k in debt. I was told my entire BS degree would cost me 48k and I didn't have a single statement from them about my loans. When I got my loan statement from the DoE, I lost it. Financial aid made excuses and the Dean told me of I didn't like it to leave. I did just that. About 4 years ago I attempted to re-enroll. I was told no because of some debt to completion ratio after I had already paid back 22k. I'm done. I won't pay another dime and I would like the rest of my money back.

And after graduating with my associates in Criminal justice, I went for my Bachelors degree. I was 6 courses out and they decided to teach out the program. Instead of having a regular classes, they sent us to their on line school which by the way is totally different than the campuses, and then they had us come into the main computer lab to work with an instructor who may or may not be teaching in the program you are in. During that time I was doing 3.5 and up work then all of the sudden one assignment I was dinged for plagiarism. Tt was done in the same manner as my other assignments. The director said it was their fault that they didn't teach me better. I was so frustrated and confused. Comment: Lies upon lies is all I remember. Being an 18-year old, fresh out of high school, I fell for it. I remember instructors quitting half way through the quarter and being replaced by unqualified substitutes that couldn't even complete the labs they were teaching. They graded on a curve so people wouldn't fail and lose they're loan eligibility and, not to mention, so the subs could keep their jobs. So many people dropped out of my class, we started with close to 40 people, and ended up with less then a quarter of that. I remember people leaving by the handful after the second or third quarter screaming at finance after finding out about the type of loans they were put into. Being only 18, I didn't understand. I believed the commercials. I believed the recruiter. And I was wrong. I remember just telling myself to suck it up and finish because it was already paid for with high interest private loans, and that they (ITT Tech) had to make good on all their promises. That I would leave there and companies would be calling me. In the end, there was no job placement, there were no companies lined up to hire graduates like they promised. I was forced to go back to working warehouse work, because at exactly 6 months after the day I graduated I needed to start to paying back those loans. Here I am 13 years later, too ashamed to even put my Associates Degree that I paid nearly $40,000 for on my resume. I actually had an employer in an interview tell me that my resume would be better with ITT Tech left off of it.... Now I have been forced to come to terms with reality and just write it off as wasted time and money on the SCAM that was ITT Technical Institute.

Comment: Hello, my name is Danny and I would love to be one of the profiles featured on the front page. I was scammed by ITT tech back in 2007. I was 18 years old and wanted to take a path that would directly take me to designing games. I told my ITT Tech "counselor," Mike, that I wanted to learn game design. He said he had the perfect program for me, and had me filling out unsub and subsidized private and student loans the next day. He told me that people who had graduated from here were working at prestigious companies like EA and Activision. He enrolled me in the visual communications program. I went for a year and a half, when I was struck with a medical issue that forced me to withdraw from my classes for a while. During this down time, I came to the startling realization that all my classes were geared towards learning Adobe CS3, a program central to being a GRAPHIC designer (someone who designs graphics for advertisements), not a GAME designer. I had not learned a single aspect of how to design a game, My counselor had lied to me, and I was now 30k in the hole with the knowledge of how use programs that allow me to make ads and logos, not games. I decided to drop out and enroll in a proper college. It has been financially hard, as I am struggling with paying back loans from a useless program (the student ones are in deferment, while the private ones don't have to wait for me to finish college) while trying to get my bachelors. I am afraid to transfer to a University due to the insane amount of debt on my head, while having to take out new loans to pay for my education. I am also a student Journalist, and would love to chronicle the struggle we are facing together as students who were all scammed by ITT Tech. Please give me the opportunity to share my story on this page. And if possible, I would love to get in touch with you guys personally so that I can write a feature about this movement and raise awareness for our cause while pressing the Department of Education for drop our toxic loans.

Comment: I was forced into poverty that I could never fully recover from after attending ITT Tech with a 4.0 GPA. I was forced to leave by the school's financial advisor who during my third semester of attendance. They demanded a co-signer and more money to keep attending the school. This forced me to leave academia with no degree and a financial burden that ruined my credit forever.

Comment: I was a single mother of two coming from a low-income family, the perfect victim for ITT Technical Institute. The financial advisor stated that I was investing in my future, that the dollar amount ($44,000) of the student loan would be the entry-level salary that I would receive my first year as a drafter. I started earning ($26,000), about half of the earnings ITT promised. ITT also e-signed private student loans on my behalf without my consent. One day, I was pulled out of class to be coerced into signing another loan because the federal student loan didn't cover the cost of my tuition, the financial advisor stated if I didn't sign the loan I would not be able to return to class and lose time and money invested so far. I was a single mother of two with few options so, I signed.

A lot of places don't want to give me the chance to prove to them that I know the information. ITT Tech has ruined my life by creating an unnecessary blockade within my schooling. I wish I would have known all that's been going on before I decided to go to ITT Tech. If I would have known, I would have never gone to a horrible School such as ITT Technical Institute.

Comment: I went to ITT Tech online for the web design program. The instructors were horrible! I had to take a 2 month break In the spring semester due to my taxes being delayed processing because of the Education 502 credit. When I went to get back into summer semester, I was told my course no longer existed and it had been changed to a different type of web design program that would require more credits than I originally signed up for! Ripoff!!!

Comment: I was lied to by ITT-TECH about lifetime job placement & being able to audit classes after graduation. Almost every test that we were given was open book so that grades were higher. I was pressured into signing up with threats that I wouldn't get the classes that I wanted. Most importantly, now that ITT-TECH has closed their doors I can't get a bachelor degree without getting another Associate degree somewhere else.

Comment: ITT Tech promised a high level of "specialized" education, followed by a clear career path to success. None of this was true. I was duped by "statistics" that were displayed by recruiters, while ITT failed to follow through on their promises to provide a meaningful education. As I progressed through the program. I remember seeking the assistance of their "Career Services" department, only to sit in an office while a high school graduate searched the internet for "IT Jobs"... Something I could have easily done myself. Every job interview following graduation was met with comments such as "Oh, you have a degree from ITT.. I don't think we have a place for you here." I was promised prestige and a competitive advantage, and all I got was shame and $70k in debt

Comment: Went to ITT Strongsville and graduated with highest honors. I was also in the the National Technical Honors Society. I was also convicted of felony in 2002 and the school said that would be no problem and they could easily get me in with a good company. They had no connections like they claimed and couldn't get anyone a job let alone a felon. After graduation their job fairs were a joke. None of the big name companies that they promised were even there. There were like 2 companies there that required no education at all. Everything they said was a lie! I already was close to a bachelors degree and didn't finish to go to this joke of a school because of what they promised. I should have just finished the bachelors degree at Cleveland State!

Comment: I was not a student, but my life was effected and I wanted to show my support. My husband was a student. He wanted to get the papers that said he is good at what he does so he could get a better job. He had a teacher that slept though his classes after handing out assignments, lots that were contract workers that left when they were called back to their normal jobs, and another that had no clue how to do the required work to pass the class, so he had my husband either give him lessons or teach the class. This was the breaking point, my husband quit school. He owes all this money and has nothing to show for it. He was a consistent dean's list student, he also tried the job placement based on his qualifications and they NEVER had a job that wasn't attached to a temp to hire place, and none of them had anything to do with his field. We have not been able to get a house loan because of his debts, and he did not benefit from any classes or anything else the school offered.

Comment: The very 1st day of class the instructor kicked someone out because they couldn't speak English. How does the recruiter do all that needs to be done and not notice, or were they only interested in their bonuses? We started with learning how to turn a computer on. We eventually got to the advanced things like installing network cards and drivers, things I had already been doing for ten years. On the one hand, so what? Just because I knew a lot doesn't mean all the other people shouldn't get to learn it right? Except that we spent so damn much time on the stupid-easy stuff that we didn't have any time for the real stuff. This was a computer networking program, not a computer basics 101 class. By the time we were learning actually network stuff, the technical stuff, the stuff that puts people to sleep, we didn't have a lot of time. We were dragged through those classes! There was no time for learning, we had to move... Complaints eventually revealed a pattern: it was always some variation of "the program you are in is new, we're always changing things to make it better, and you're almost through this part. In another few short weeks you'll see everything will be fine." Well, they told us we were the first people through the program, then called CNST. I just found out that someone who graduated the "new" version of that program in 2012 was told the same exact thing! I "graduated" in 2002, so they have been using those excuses for at least 12 years! I am still learning new ways that this school screwed me over. And because the federal government is behind the money, there is no recourse, no accountability, no help, nothing! The obvious question: "what, are you stupid?! Why go to a school when they do this?" Back in 2000, the internet wasn't anything like it is today. About 5 years ago I looked up ITT out of curiosity. It took maybe 5 minutes to confirm that the school is a scam. But back in 2000 that couldn't be done. I talked to job recruiters, former grads, etc, for weeks. Sure I heard a bad thing once in awhile, but you figure that's going to happen right? Always a few disgruntled people, but overall a positive result. These days it's the in thing: everyone just somehow magically knows that ITT is a scam. I guess people feel super smart when they compare themselves to the stupid people who enrolled in a fake school. Well, I grew up knowing all about ITT. They were the superschool that all the smart people went to, if they were lucky enough to be able to afford it. ITT had all the good equipment, all of the great instructors. Its where you went if you wanted to skip the Math and English crap and learn just what you needed to do. I get to say this with a *lot* of hind sight. Back then, 16 years ago, I was 4 years out of the USAF, I was young, stupid and ripe to be taken advantage of by ITT. Plus I had a GI bill burning a hole in my pocket. The recruiters are very people smart. They knew how to find the right buttons to push. Having been groomed for a lifetime to see ITT as the holy grail of schools, I was ripe to be screwed over by them. She impressed me with graduation stats, told me how much money everyone is making after they graduate, etc etc, all lies. Once in, I remember feeling manipulated into signing some things. I remember not really having an opportunity to understand what I was signing. One example, they would pass financial aid stuff during class, we'd have to sign it and turn it in, while the instructor was talking about class stuff. I remember some people had questions. He said something about catching the people in the financial aid office sometime later, but still we needed to sign it for now. Very awkward it felt like at the time, but now, 16 years later it really wasn't awkward: it was downright manipulative. And they still have the federal government protecting them all. This is like being mugged in slow motion right out in broad daylight over a period of 2 years. Complaints to the school always got the same results (mentioned above). I called the DOE, the VA (because I was wasting my GI bill here) and other agencies. They would always refer me back to the school saying that I had to follow their so called established procedure for complaints. Established is probably the wrong word - engineered procedure seems more appropriate. These people were given decades to evolve a complex system of fraud. The VA, the DOE and all the other agencies that were throwing a ton of money at them, aren't they supposed to be watching to make sure the schools they are paying are living up to some kind of standard? Yeah, that's what I thought when i was signing up. All of the same agencies that are involved when you go to any other kind of school are here, each of them have a system in place that ensures each school is doing what they say they are doing. Only a paranoid idiot would thing someone is trying anything funny right? They took every advantage of that kind of thinking they could and went straight to the bank with it. They didn't tell me I didn't have enough money until after I was already going to school. So they made me pay them cash for months. I was working by butt off overtime, for a short time. I didn't have a car, so I had to beg for rides when I could, take two busses in each direction, plus pay these pricks off. I want my money back. I want my time back. I want something in return for having wasted so much time. I want these people to be found - every one of them should have everything they own taken away and sold to try to clean up the mess they made, and they should all spend some time in prison. Im lucky - some of these people have families depending on them. These bastards are the worst - they've screwed over countless people and got away with it for decades. I suspect the DOE, the VA and other agencies are involved - how else could they possibly have ripped so many people off for so long? One of ITT's top brass defected and became a whistleblower, gave the DOE everything they needed and *STILL* they let them keep going. I think the DOE should be investigated as well as others. I am so pissed of right now. The government, the people that are supposed to be working with and for the people are out for themselves. Everyone involved should be found and investigated. They've ruined so far 16 years of my life as well as how many hundreds of thousands of others. Some people seem to have done well after ITT. Good for them, that didn't happen to me or anyone in my class that i know of. We started with 51 people. I think we had around 10 people in the  end. Why didn't I just quit? Well, the other people did. They were smarter apparently. But at what point do you put your foot down? They were very manipulative. At the time it didn't seem that way. They told me - don't worry you are almost through this part of the program. I'm really sorry you're not learning much right now but it's a new program, that stuff has been fixed, and in just a few weeks or days you'll be though with this part. Please stick with us  and I promise you won't be sorry etc etc etc on and on. I don't know anything more about networking than I did when I started. They went so damn fast through the tech stuff we couldn't learning anything. When I complained about THAT I was told well this is like it is out in the real world. You can't always just slow down and enjoy the process. You have to move fast and this will prepare you. Or, I would hear, well you need to spend more time at home reading. Well I could have done that without ITT! And the instructors were under a lot of pressure too! They seemed to want to help but the class would end and there was just no time. Sometimes too many people would fail tests and midterms and the class would talk about the questions as a group and find the answers and take it again. At the time, I think most people were relieved, after having so much pressure. It doesn't even make sense! They had the people, the equipment, the building, the time, all they had to do was teach the damn material! But they wasted so much time on beginner stuff that any idiot should know that we had no time to learn the actual networking. What kind of idiot will sign up for computer networking program when they don't know how to turn on a computer and use a mouse! There's a lot of other things, but I'm so mad right now I can't think. This school wronged a lot of people, and they get to have the federal government back them up. Now that their game is up, they get to run home to mama (I mean file for bankruptcy "protection") and leave everyone else out in the cold to deal with their own problems. Some countries put people to death who do so much damage.

Comment: I applied at ITT Technical Institute (which has since been forced to close for questionable practices)as a single, working parent. I was informed that my schedule would always remain the same throughout the program and that the training would be predominantly hands–on and that I could walk in as a layman, with no experience and leave a qualified technician. This was not the case. There was very little lab(hands-on) teaching experience and the minimal time which we were in lab, there was not enough equipment for the number of students in the class. I was a straight A student with perfect attendance, but was not learning any technical skills which could be applied in the actual work field. I made straight A’s simply because of my ability to read the material in the text books and repeat what I’d read on paper.
When I approached the staff and counselors at the school with my concerns about not getting hands on experience and my lack of ability to perform the duties for which I was being certified due to not having been taught, I was told that I should just be please with having my certificate in hand. However, in the technical field, simply having a certificate without the skills is useless and this was in total conflict of the school's advertisements which drew me to enroll in ITT Technical Institute.
Shortly thereafter, my classmates and I received word from faculty that some of the class schedules would be changing in spite of the promises which had been made in the ads and during the admissions process that our schedules would remain constant throughout the entire certification process in order to accommodate “working adults with families.”
As a single, working mother, I was forced to withdraw and discontinue due to my inability to attend according to the change in class schedule. As a result, I was left with student loan debt which I was unable to repay. I was not informed of my rights as a borrower when I applied for my student loans and did not know of any recourse that I could have taken. There was no income based repayment plans available at the time and after several failed attempts to keep up payments, my loans went into default, impacting my credit , ability to gain employment and provide for myself and children significantly.
I would never have applied for school and/or loans to worsen my life to the degree that it has. If there is any action which can be taken to help me out of this situation and have these loans forgiven, please let me know. I am desperate. I simply wanted to gain a skill to work and make a better living for myself and family and it backfired horribly.
