I was definitely conned into going to ITT. I was a single mother with 2 small children that were 5 and 4 years old. I went to the school one day because I saw a commercial on TV advertising Criminal Justice. They told me it was a brand new program at the school.
I explained my situation that I didn’t make much money, I had small children, etc etc. She said, “that’s ok! Because once you graduate you can make great money and support yourself and your children!” She got me hyped. But going to the school, working my butt off, graduating with high honors, got me absolutely nowhere.
They didn’t help me find a job, as promised. Their excuse kept being that the program was new, blah blah blah. Now almost 10 years later, STILL $35 grand in debt, I have an awesome job… In accounting. Those people took advantage of a single mother with a part time job and scanned me into believing that I would easily be able to pay the loans because of my excellent, high paying job THEY WOULD HELP ME OBTAIN. I really hope that something can be done to them, that we all can stick it to them, like they did us!
